Ingredients

Brownie Base

  • 2 ½ cups All-purpose flour
  • 2 cups Granulated sugar
  • 4 tbsp Cocoa powder
  • 1 cup Unsalted butter
  • 2 Large eggs
  • 2 tbsp Red food coloring
  • 2 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 2 tsp Vinegar or buttermilk
  • 1 tsp Salt

Optional Toppings

White chocolate drizzle

Cream cheese frosting

Chopped walnuts or pecans

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8x8-inch pan with parchment paper and grease lightly.
  • Melt the butter in a microwave or on the stovetop. Let it cool slightly.
  • In a bowl, whisk together sugar and melted butter until smooth. Add eggs, one at a time, and whisk until combined.
  • Stir in red food coloring, vanilla extract, and vinegar (or buttermilk).
  • Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gradually fold this mixture into the wet ingredients until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
  • Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared pan. Bake for 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  • Cool and Decorate: Allow the brownies to cool completely before drizzling with white chocolate, spreading cream cheese frosting, or topping with nuts.

  • For extra flavor, add a teaspoon of espresso powder to enhance the cocoa taste.
  • Use gel red food coloring for a more vibrant color without altering the batter's consistency.
  • To create a cream cheese swirl, soften cream cheese, mix it with powdered sugar, and swirl it into the batter before baking.
  • Ensure the butter is fully melted and slightly cooled before mixing with the sugar to avoid a gritty texture.
  • Let the brownies cool completely before slicing to get clean, sharp edges.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for a week.
